US Players Cannot Participate? I tried to register and got a message stating that PokerStars does not offer Real Money tournaments in your area. wtf?

why not offer tournaments without cash prizes so US players can participate? I was a member of pso when it was with Bugsy's, thats how it was then.

You might not have followed the news but US residents are not allowed to play poker online at most reputable sites.
PS only offers play money games to these unlucky people.

There are a lot of play money tournaments offered.
Or do you want play money freerolls restricted to PSO members?

US residents have not been able to play in any games for cash nor prizes since black Friday.

Trust me... I'm in Chicago.

Hi FrayedKnott,

Unfortunately we cannot offer any games or tournaments involving any kind of cash buy-in or prize to US members due to legal reasons. For more detailed information or any questions you have on this I suggest emailing support@pokerstars.com.

We do however offer some play money games that are available to all members. Firstly is the Power Play tournament that runs every Sunday at 18:00 ET, you can find full details here. There is also monthly tournament series, the latest you can find details of here, and twice weekly cash games in our Community Home Games Club. You can find out how to join our Home Games club here.

Hope this helps, cheers,

Chris

In addition to this I sometimes run a Sunday Special live training that is home games (we did one a couple weeks ago), in which we do all play money buy ins for exactly this reason. PSO does offer quite a bit of "US friendly" (and bankroll friendly) opportunities to play that are much more realistic for practice and enjoyment than your general play money buy in open client game.
