Hi,

Hand Analysis

A good rule of thumb when deciding that our hand is playable and being the first to enter the pot is to raise the standard amount of 3x the big blind, this will help to ensure that a pot is built and it will thin the amount of players involved in the pot.

When the villain on the button click back minimum raises us for an additional big blind, I would have re-raised 3x their sizing for pure value to try and isolate their possible weak range of holdings. Re-raising another 10 chips invites all of the other villains to tag along with proper pot odds, we do not want that as it will reduce our overall hand strength and equity in the pot.

Post flop with top set, a 2/3 to 3/4 pot sized bet is the key here to help set up the stack to pot ratio for future streets, this type of board texture has many different type of draws and some of the villains stack depth can afford the sizing mentioned above. This is a spot to be bet calling any raise (all in), we will be ahead of all the villains range, this is a plus expected value spot.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
CannonLee

Hi,

Hand Analysis

On this stack depth of about 40bb, this hand isn't really strong enough to be raising over a limp, also it's really difficult to hit the flop with this hand given the huge gap between the ace and eight which limits our playablity of the hand. I'd prefer checking our option to take a free flop.

Post flop there are two different draws present, one for the straight and the flush. A good bet sizing to extract value from possible combos of those draws would be 2/3 pot size, as if we do get called we will have close to a pot sized bet on the turn. Anything less than amount induce really light floats with plausible wide range of holdings..we want to charge max value just as you did. Nice pot and nice hand.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
CannonLee

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi,

Hand Analysis

We are sitting on about a 35bb stack depth which doesn't leave us much room for post flop maneuvers, however just because we are short doesn't mean we need to adjust our 3bet sizing so much. on this depth of money I would have 3bet to 10c or 12c max, this hand should be considered the top of our range. We have blockers to aces and kings, every other hand such as pocket pairs we are in a coin flip situation and if we happen to induce a 4bet jam, and worse Ax we have crushed!

Post flop, on the flop this is such a dry board, there is going to be dead money and if we are to bet 1/2 pot we can generate folds a decent percentage of the time or get called by a worse range of high card combos.

Although checking back the flop does induce does open up the villains stabbing range on the turn which is great for us. We can call both the turn and river depending on the villains bet sizing and how the board runs out. Nice pot with ace high!

Please only play at 9-Max 0.01/0.02c as your training is focused primarily on this game format.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,

I have watched the video. Here are the three reasons:
a) Put a pressure on opponents
b) Bluff people of decent hands
c) Protect against strong draws

I cant do the quiz.... I don't know why
