Hi papitowtow,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi papitowtow!

Before we look at the hand, please try to play on tables where all the seats are actually filled in the future. It will make it easier for you to play smart, tight poker. When you start on 2NL, you can adjust the Filter in the Holdem Lobby to only show tables with 8 playrs. That way, when you sit down the table will be at its full nine. That is what I do

QQ is a strong starting hand, raising as you did preflop is perfect.

On the flop, you have an overpair and a straight draw. But the board is very wet. You might be facing flush draws, or even KQ for a better strraight. You want to bet now to protect your hand. However, your bet is a bit too small. There is 125 in the pot. You want to bet about 70% of the pot, perhaps more. I would make it about 100 here. Betting 50 as you did gives anyone chasing a draw good odds to continue with the hand.

On the turn, you lead out, get raised, then 3 bet. The board is paired with two 9s, you are not drawing to a flush or the nut straight. One opponent may be bluffing, but probably not both. If they have the hands they are representing, then you are most likely behind at the momement. This is not a good spot to risk your whole stack. You only have "just a pair". And even though you have outs to improve, it is not clear if you are drawing dead. The only outs that will most likely give you the best hand are the two remaining Qs.

Learning to get away from spots like this takes some experience. In general, I like to have a strong made hand such as a set or better before committing all my chips.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi papitowtow,

Calling or 3betting preflop are both justifiable, but I would make it atleast 3x his bet when I do decide to raise because what I really want to see here is a fold.
As played, I think cbetting this flop is a good line with two overcards and a backdoor flush/straight draw. I would double barrel bluff any spade, any overcard, a 9 and a T.
When we do make our hand I think betting and checking are both valid options. I think checking could be slightly more powerful because when we do bet we will only get called by QQ, Jx. Now depending on our opponent type they might call us with JT/J9 too which is why I think betting is also a valid option. But when we check we leave TT/99/77/66/AQ kind of hands in his range that would be more inclined to call us on the river when we check to them on the turn and with this kind of board I am not too worried to be outdrawn here we are only worried about an A or a K and a card that would give them a set and that will only happen roughly 14% of the time.
