Hi Cellarcask,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.
He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers

Hi Cellarcask!

With JTs from the BB, I get 4 limps, then a smaller than normal raise to 9 and a call of this raise. Since I'm out of position, I need to either re-raise or fold here and JTs is not strong enough to raise with into this many opponents. Due to this, I need to fold. Playing from out of position is a big disadvantage postflop, so I only want to be playing better hands when in these positions at the table.
If I had a stronger hand and did want to re-raise, then I would need to size it to between 3X the previous bet (27) and a pot-sized raise (37). I don't want to raise to less or I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me... something that I want to avoid if at all possible.

If I saw the flop and see that I hit two pair (which I would not), I need to make a standard value bet. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 5 opps, I need to make a pot-sized bet of 98 chips... BUT.. this make me pot-committed, which means that if I make this bet, I cannot fold. Due to this, I need to shove the flop. Once again, I don't want to bet less or I could be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me.

The turn is a scare card since it completes a straight to 89 and also a diamond flush. With one opp now in the hand, a standard bet is 1/2 pot (89 chips).. BUT.. this is over 1/3 of my remaining chips, which means that I'll be pot-committed and cannot fold. Due to this, I need to shove the turn.

While every hand can get lucky, the key with this hand is to muck marginal hands preflop.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.
