Hi sjoloand,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi sjoloand!

With TT and a limper in front of me, I'm going to make a standard raise, which is to 3BB+1BB for each limper, so I will raise to 40. I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard, as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that bet more with better hands and less with weaker ones are basically turning their cards face-up to an observant opponent... something I want to avoid.

I then get an abnormally large raise and a call of it. Here is where I need a read on the opps. If they are playing loose, then I'm going to at least call, if not raise. If the opps are tight, against two opponents, I'm going to have to muck my tens here, as my hand plays much worse against multiple opponents as I can be facing 4 overcards, not just two.
If I do decide to play the hand, I need to shove here. Calling the raise is over 1/3 of my stack, which means that I'm pot-committed and cannot then fold. When this is the case, I have two choices, either to shove or fold.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi sjoloand,

I think these hands played straight forward. I don't mind the call in the first hand given they posted out of turn and shoved. I think your reasoning is very logical.
In the second hand we have a strong hand, I might have taken slightly larger bet sizes to get more value from our hand.

Hi sjoloand,

Hand#1: I would fold the flop here. There is not much going for us in a 3bet pot. Two overs and a backdoor flush is kind of ambitious to be check calling here after we get raised preflop. Our A and Q could be dominated by AA/KK/QQ, and AK

Hand#2: Again without any reads I'm bet/folding the J22 board

Hand#3: Here I think we can raise preflop hoping to steal the BB. As played, I would plan to call atleast one street. I think after the villain checks the turn and bets the river we should be finding a fold our TP is probably outkicked at this point and I don't believe villain can be bluffing on the river and most his showdown value hands would check back.

Hand#4: Against a limp and with the stack we have I think a shove is an okay play.

Hi sjoloand,

This is a Headsup situation. My advice is to avoid those spots at first because heads up is high variance and hard to get by. Anyway, checking our option in the BB is okay. We don't have a good enough hand to raise so we want to see a cheap flop. OTF, I think we can both lead or check. But when the opponent over bets the pot on the turn, we are not getting good odds to call and draw to the flush draw so we should be folding to the turn bet.
