Hi bunadav,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.
Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Hi,

I've completed all the required tasks.

Below is my first hand post for your analysis:

I have a feeling I played this hand badly, but I'm really grinding the tournament material on PokerSchoolOnline these days so maybe this play makes sense in a cash game (at least parts of it).
I think that my first call was ok, but what do you have to say about the second one (300)?
Also, was the last value bet on the river too high with a flush draw on the board (it was for 1/2 the pot but for a little over 30% of my remaining stack)?

I'm pretty sure I would never play the hand that way if it wasn't for play money.
In that regard, I have another question: On 95% of the tables I sat at, I was facing at least one bingo player.
I'm not talking about the occasional bluffer, I'm talking about serial All-in killers that just shove every other hand pre-flop.
I'm trying really hard to keep it together, not to stoop down to this level of play and really focus on my poker skills. But obviously since it's play money I call them and cross my fingers every once in a while.
So finally to my question, should I expect the same behavior at the real money tables (low stakes tables and tourneys)?
If so will it be at the same volume as it is at the play money tables?

Thanks,
Bunadav

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi,

The answer to the big bets question is:
1. To put pressure on the opponents
2. To bluff
3. Build the pot with strong made hands
4. Protection bet

I've completed all the tasks.

Here's a hand from my first cash game:

I wanted to know if I could have played it better.
Should I have increased the bet sizes or just fold it and move on?

I would also be happy to get a response on the previous hand I posted.

Thanks,
bunadav

Hi bunadav,

I will be your Hand Analyzer for this post
With AK, I want to be raising for value. I would make it atleast 3x their bet. And because we are out of position I would elect to make it even 1bb larger to make our opponent pay premium for their positional advantage. I would raise to 0.20$ and plan to get the rest of my money if they come over the top.

As played, I think this is one bad flop to continuation bet on because it hits our opponents range. Although we have two over and a gutshot to the straight. Some cards that give us TP will improve our opponent to two pair or better. Also this is a kind of board that can get action and our cbet can get raised often.
Your betsizing also on the flop does not accomplish anything it mostly gives information to your opponent about the strength of your hand. Your cbet sizing should be in the area of 1/2 pot, 2/3 pot or 3/4 pot. Somewhere in there. After the flop, I would not even consider put 1cent into the pot. There is little going on for us and the turn does not bring any fold equity. Whatever called the flop is going to call the turn. So I would check and give up.
