Hi HipBlaze,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi HipBlaze!

With ATo from UTG+1, especially if there are aggressive opps or players that won't fold, I'll muck this hand from this position, as it's not strong enough. If I do decide to play it, I will make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper, so I will raise to 8. I do not want to raise to less than this, as by doing so, I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me.

I miss the flop in a 7-way pot. When it checks to me, I need to check behind and hope that my hand improves on the turn, as someone most likely has a pair and is ahead of me.

The turn does not help me at all and when it checks to me, I need to once again check and hope my hand improves on the river. If I did make a bet here, I would need to make a standard value bet. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 or more opps, I need to make a pot-sized bet (nothing smaller or I can be giving the opps the right odds to try to outdraw me). If I give the opps the right odds to outdraw me and they do, it's my own fault that I lose the hand.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi HipBlaze!

Preflop I recommend making a standard raise of 3bb plus 1bb for each limper. So, make it 10c here rather than 8. This will help reduce the number of callers. Note, big pairs QQ, KK and AA play best against a single opponent.

Here you get a string of callers and you get a bad flop with the A as well as being wet with flush and straight draws. The villain leads out with a tiny 4c bet into a pot of 33c. A read would help us know how to interpret this. Some players do it with strong hands trying to keep players in the pot by betting small. Others do it with weak second pair hands or drawing hands in an attempt to keep the pot small. This is called a blocking bet. Folding would be safe, especially if you expect a bigger bet on the turn. However, the bet is so small compared to the pot that we can call the flop and reevaluate on the turn.

The turn doesn't help anyone and the pot is even larger now. I think we will see enough semi-bluffs in the villain's range that calling if fine. The same is true on the river. Had he suddenly made a larger bet you do need to fold. However, not much has changed since the flop. If we believe that the villain can make this tiny bet with a drawing hand, then it is worth paying off such small bets.

I hope you made a note on the villain. Next time you encounter him you will be able to interpret his raises better.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Hi HipBlaze,

I will be your Hand Analyzer for this post

I would blame your loss in that hand on two things: 1. starting hand selection, 2. preflop raise size, 3. overplaying TP

With 53o from the Hijack position we have a clear fold imo. You decided to open raise the minimum which I don't like because it gives the big blind good odds to call with basically any two cards. Stick to raising 3bbs instead. It will make the game easier for you and be sure you have good understanding of starting hand selection. OTF, you have overplayed your TPWK on a paired low board. Flopping a pair of 3 is not good here. We will lose to any 2, almost any 3, any overpair, and we are actually an underdog against FDs because they will have over cards to our pair to go with it.
