Hi glekas,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

I want to know what do you think about this hand. The call on the turn was just because the bet the villain did I thought it was a bluff just to send me away from the pot. On the river, I checked to see if the villain would shoot another time and I would raise him.

Hi glekas!

With a very bad hand in 26s from the BB, when the opps check, I'll check and see a free flop. If any of the opps had bet, I need to muck.

The flop totally misses me and I'm going to check and hope to see a free turn card. If anyone bets, I need to fold.

The turn gives me a flush draw, but I have absolutely nothing, so I need to check and hope to see a free river heart. I do not want to bet, as I've got just about the worst hand possible right now. When the opp makes a large bet, this is an easy muck since I have nothing.

If I did see the river heart (which I would not), I need to make a standard value bet for my flush. Bets postflop need to be made based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With one opp, a standard bet is 1/2 pot, so I will bet 65.

I want to be betting when I'm most likely ahead, not checking. And checking when I'm most likely behind, not betting then.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Can you please say how could I have played better this hand? The check on the river was because I was afraid of KQ.

Hi glekas!

You played this hand fine, except for your betsizing. Let's take a closer look.

Opening preflop is great. However, I recommend sticking to the standard 3bb raise. Betting more risks gettng you value owned. This means all the hands you are beating fold which results in your winning less. Whereas only the hands beating you are likely to continue which results in you losing more. Stick to the standard size and conceal the strength of your hand. In this case, you have a strong hand and great position. You want to get action.

You flop top pair, but the board is somewhat connected. On boards like this where it is likely to have helped the villain and drawing hands are possible, it is better to bet about 70% of the pot. This gains you value AND gives the villain poor odds to chase a draw. Bet about 14c here rather than 10c.

The turn is unlikely to have helped the villain. So again, I would bet about 70% of the pot. It is important to bet now while a chaser still believes they can outdraw you.

The river did not complete any draws. Checking down the river is good. Firstly, missed draws would not normally call a bet. Therefore you are unlikely to gain more value from those hands in the villain's range. Secondly, with top pair top kicker we can't always expect 3 streets of value. You are likely to be ahead, but it will be hard for you to call a large raise. So check as you did. Depending on your read on the villain you can call a bet on the river.

Betsizing is important. Keep an eye on it

GL and have fun at the tables!
