Hi geegee95,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi geegee95,

I will be your Hand Analyzer for this post

Nice hand! I want to raise this hand and build a pot. I would make it 10$, but it seems at the play money tables many players are calling big bets too loosely. So yea why not double it

I think you missed value on the flop though. We should be betting the flop with our overpair + nut flush draw.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi geegee95!

There are several important points to note with this hand. Firstly, it is a 6-max table. Please stick to Full Ring (9-man) tables for the duration of the bankroll builder promotion. Playing anything else will make you ineligible for the remaining buyins. Full ring is better to learn on becuase you can be patient and wait for good spots. On 6-max you are forced to play many more hands which creates tough postflop spots that one needs experience to profitably handle.

Preflop, you have a marginal hand with Q8s. It might be playable, however, limping in is not a good idea. As a good general rule, anytime you are the first to enter the pot, always do so with a raise, regardless your cards! Raising gives you an immediate benefit in that everyone may fold. This is important with semi-bluff hands such as you Q8. Secondly, if you riase your strong hands and limp your weak hands, you will be bery easy to play against and will get exploited. By always raising the same amount, you conceal the strength of your hand whether you have AA or 72o.

As played, you played the hand fine postflop. Your kicker is fairly weak. So, calling the bets is fine. On the river, I would sugget a smaller bet, anywhere between 50% and 100% of the pot. This is an amount that many hands you are beating such as AJ will call.

Remember, always open with a raise. AND, stick to full ring

GL and have fun at the tables!

Hi geegee95,

I'm sorry you lost your bankroll; however, this is not a cooler! You are under the gun in this hand and entered the pot with an extremely weak hand. Moreover, you limped in!? Please reread my previous analysis. As I stated there, any time you are the first to enter the pot, always do so with a raise! By limping in, you invite the entire table to come along and see a cheap flop with any two cards. Had you raised, the Q10 villain would presumably have folded.

As played, you flopped two pair which is good, but it is not the nuts. I recommend betting a bit smaller, about 50% - 70% of the pot. You want to get called here by the hands you are beating such as one pair hands.

Moving all in on the turn is fine, you are beating most of the villain's range now. However, once again, it was your preflop action, both chosing to play such a weak hand from early position as well as the fact that you didn't raise, that created this unlucky result.

Try to be patient and wait for good starting hands in good position. These fundamentals are critical to becoming profitable. And remember, if you are the first to enter a pot, always do so with a raise.

GL and have fun at the tables!
