Hi quickscope3,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi quickscope3,

Your hand history must be converted by using the hand replayer as per instructions in post #3. No other hand history format is allowed.

Hope this helps!

Hi quickscope3!

Firstly, I noticed that you paid the big blind out of turn. For you own sake, never do this! It make seem like it is only 1 bb, but these small loses add up to be a big drain on your bankroll. Check the "Wait for BigBlind" box. Then use the time to start building reads on your opponents.

As played, you are dealt 33 and are in early position. Small pairs do not play well post flop unless you flop a set. Normally I would recommend folding them preflop from early position. Here since you are already in the hand, I would check behind and try to see the flop cheap. When set mining, we want to see the flop as cheaply as possible and with as many opponents as possible. This gives us the best chance of winning a big pot the few times we flop a set (implied odds). When we take a speculative line, then we can easily check-fold everytime we don't flop a set. This is a small risk, for a potentially big reward.

You elected to raise. This line has merit at higher stakes where we expect most players to fold preflop. It allows us to isolate the original limper. Raising also sets up a good situation where you can c-bet most flops and rep a strong hand. However, at playmoney and 2NL real money, we see that players rarely fold preflop or postflop. Therefore, running this type of semi-bluff as you did here will more times than not fail and cost us a a big chunck of our stack. In other words, this is a big risk for a small reward.

As played though, firing a c-bet on the flop was fine. It will hopefully get anyone not holding an A or 10 to fold. Note, if you get called on the flop, you need to check-fold the rest of the hand unless a 3 comes. Don't try bluffing a new street. It just doesn't work often enough.

Try to be patient at the tables. Big pots for big hands (sets or better) and small pots for small hands

Gl and have fun at the tables!

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi,

Hand Analysis

Post flop, given that there are two kings as well fives on the board, we can discount a full house from the villains range as with those cards present it reduces the likelihood of them having that range..When the villain lead into you on the flop, their range is going to be much weaker than if they check raised (which would be the standard)..if they did indeed have a range of Kx they would elected to check call to keep your entire range in the pot.. As for the river play, there aren't many worse hands that can call us here that have decent showdown value besides Qx or Ax.. checking back is fine.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
CannonLee
