Hello flembinio,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After watching this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi flembinio,

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step. Meanwhile just let me know when you have passed the quiz.

Cheers!

Hi flembinio!

With A8 from the SB, I get a min-raise and two calls. Being out of position with a very marginal-at-best hand, I need to fold this preflop. The SB is the position at the table where I should be playing the absolute least number of hands from due to the huge positional disadvantage post-flop. If I had AK or possibly AQ, then I'd re-raise, but lesser aces need to be mucked as I can very easily be outkicked.

If I saw the flop (which I would not), when I see that I have trips, I need to make a value bet and the key will be the sizing of it. Post-flop bets need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 opps, I need to and will make a pot-sized bet of 20. I do not want to bet less than this, as by doing so, I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me... something that I need to avoid doing whenever possible.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

The reasons are:
put pressure on opponents
bluff decent hands out
get value for a strong hand

I also passed the quiz

Notice that the flop is just low cards, but does offer straight and flush draws. Leading out as you did is fine, but check-raise would be a good option here as well.

As played, your c-bet gets called and the turn is a bad card for you. Any flush just got there as well as many straights. It is best to check now. Min betting is pretty much never a good option postflop. Ask yourself why are you betting. If it is for value, then you want to bet more. Anyone willing to call 2c in a pot of 72c will surely call a larger bet. Betting 2c does not help protect against draw. And if you are betting as a semi-bluff, you will need to bet more if you want to get the villain to fold. In other words min-betting, especially into such a large pot does not help you in any way. Either check or bet between 30% and 50% of the pot. Checking is best here.

You make a set on the river, but there are also four spades on the board. The betsizing of the villain looks like it is for value. He will have a flush here most of the time. Folding is your best option. Great job laying down a set of As Being able to make that fold shows that you moving in the right direction.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Hi flembinio,

I will be your Hand Analyzer for this post

Hand#1: I think we can raise preflop to isolate the limpers and play IP with initiative. As played, I would look to check back the turn for pot control. Also check back the river after you bet the turn and they called. You will only be called/raised by better hands.

Hand#2: I think x/c turn and leading turn are both viable options considering your stack size here
