Hello,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi ghieezzterzz!

With Q8s in the BB, I get 4 limpers, then a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper. With a marginal-at-best hand, I need to fold to this preflop raise, especially since I'm out of position. If I had AKs or maybe AQs, then I could call the raise but lower suited cards are too weak and need to be mucked.

If I saw this flop (which I would NOT), when I see that I flop top pair and the preflop raiser checks, I need to make a value bet. Bets postflop need to be made based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 opps in the pot, I need to make a pot-sized bet of 360. I do not want to bet less than this or I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me... something that I need to avoid doing.

The turn pairs the board and with 2 opps left, a standard bet is 2/3 pot... however, this is over 1/3 of my remaining stack, so I'll be pot-committed if I make this bet and cannot fold. Due to this, I need to shove the turn.

The key here is.. while every hand can get lucky, I need to be patient and fold marginal hands to raises preflop.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

A player may want to make a big bet when:
-Trying to protect a hand from strong draws.
-Trying to get a big value from a strong hand.
-For bluffing people out of decent hands and win the pot

and ALSO I HAVE PASSED THE CASH GAME QUIZ

Hi ghieezzterzz!

A5s can be a very playable hand; however, this was not the best situation to play it for several reasons. Firstly, you are under the gun. A5s is not strong enough to open with because if you get 3bet you should fold. You will be out of position and paying too much with a speculative hand. With speculative hands such as Axs or smaller pair, we hope to see the flop cheaply because we normally miss the flop and need to fold.

Secondly, when playing aces with weak kickers, be very careful not to lose a big pot to a villain holding an ace with a better kicker than yours. I recommend opening from utg with AJs+ and 1010+ at full ring.

As played, you open limped from utg. This is not the best plan. As a general rule, any time you are the first to enter a pot Always do so with a raise - regardless your cards. If you limp your marginal hands and raise your strong hands, you will be very easy for better players to read and take advantage of you. As played, if you are going to limp-call, it is normally better to raise yourself in the first place.

Calling the raise is not good here. You have a speculative hand and arent getting good enough implied odds to continue.

Your gut feeling was correct, you got lucky with the flop here.

Your play postflop looked good. You had top pair weak kicker, but lots of outs to improve.

GL and have fun at the tables!
