Hello PSO, I recently signed up because I always like to work on my poker game, I've been an on and off player for about 4 or 5 years recreationally but have considered myself a decent player. For example, in a NL Hold Em freeroll last night I got 5th out of 9000, only losing with JJ to KQ. I would really like to take advantage of the bankroll building promotion, and I'm sure that the dollars won't go to waste

Hello,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!

NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basic Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.

So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Here I call on the flop with trip queens, although this is a play money situation, would I be right in making the call in a real money tournament situation? I know that I have the nuts, but I should weary of a KQ, QJ, etc? I know its only one out but it would be nice to get some input on this.

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers.

Hi MangoWarrior!

With an average hand in Q7o, I get a raise and a call in front of me in the BB. Since I'm out of position and do not have a hand strong enough to raise with, I need to fold here preflop. Many players play too many hands from the blinds because it looks cheap to them... where in actuality, they are leaking off chips from their stack due to playing too many hands. I work hard for the chips that I get and do not want to give them away.

If I saw the flop (which I would not), when I see that I hit trip queens with a bad kicker, I need to make a standard value bet. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 2 opps in the pot, I need to bet 2/3 pot or 173 chips. I do not want to bet less than this or I can be giving the opps the correct odds to try to outdraw me.
I now get called and min-raised (a standard raise for this opp would be to 3X my bet). Here is where I need to make another big decision in the hand. I either need to re-raise the opp, which would normally be to 3X their bet, but since this is over 1/3 of my stack, I'm going to be pot-committed and would need to shove... so I need to shove or fold and with trips, while I may be behind, I'm going to shove.

The real key in this hand though is to muck marginal hands when out of position and facing a raise.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Brilliant!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.

Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks complete and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!
