Variance is a statistical fact of anything that involves some element of randomness, you can't get away from it, it never stops.

6Max Hyper Turbo SNGs have particularly wide variances as the luck element is so high - a skill advantage in these games will probably only be visible after 10K tournaments+.

I remember reading a story about someone who reached Supernova Elite by playing only Hyper-Turbo SNGs? Maybe someone else can remember who this was as I am sure Pokerstars have done a video about him.

Hi truethfairy

Have *just* started playing more hyper-turbos myself, but fifithecat grinds them as his regular game, and he's had some pretty wild swings - think these graphs are for about like a $5 buy-in games on average?

Wow, guess these hyper-turbos are pretty swingy, aren't they? Well the variance has to turn around eventually, so hopefully for you it'll be soon

George Lind III aka "Jorj95". He has more than 10 million VPP playing them this is just a sample of what he did in 2010 to become the years first SNE in just 3 months

Quote:
Hours played: 648 (about 50 hours per week)
Tournaments played: 70,997 (I play hyperturbo SNGs which last about 8 minutes each so I can play as many as 200 or more in an hour)
Hands Played: 836,402

What's Jorj95 ROI like?

Based on my understanding, most top hyper turbo players make ROI in the region of 10% or lower. I wonder is this ROI too low to compensate the big strings of losses that one might have playing this due to variance?

The one video that really helped me was "Playing the short stack" by Spacegravy

Fantastic video where he plays like 9 $7 hyper turbo sit n go's and actually manages to win like 8 of them haha He basically goes through all his shuving ranges in a lot of different spots. Definitely worth a watch

Hope this helps,
