Hi huphisherman,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hello, I play pre-flop because everyone has been very loose and splashy (almost like the chips aren't real to them Is KQ good enough, or should i look to be suited in multiway/stronger to punish loose play? Thanks in advance.

PS: my quiz is finished as well.

Hi huphisherman!

With KQo from the SB, I get 4 limps in front of me. If I think that making a standard raise (3BB+1BB for each limper will get some of the opps to fold, then I'll raise). Otherwise I'll fold. Calling too much from the SB is a leak that many players have as I'm out of position postflop.

With a 3-bet and a 4-bet and a call of the 4-bet, KQ is nowhere near strong enough to call or raise here, so I absolutely need to muck. The only hands that I want to play against a 4-bet are AA, KK, QQ and maybe AK or JJ with AK and JJ being folds the majority of the time.

If I saw the turn (which I would not), when I hit top pair, I need to make a value bet. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 3 opps, I need to bet 3/4 pot.. BUT.. this bet is over 1/3 of my remaining chips which means that if I make this bet, I'll be pot-committed and cannot fold. So I'd have to shove.

The key with this hand though is to muck it preflop when out of position, especially to raises.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hello,

I watched the video and passed the course.

The three reasons for making a big bet are:
For value
As a bluff
To pressure an opponent

I know the next hand is a typical overplay that comes up a lot, correct way is to fold the flop once he checkraises? Thanks in advance.

Hi huphisherman,

I will be your Hand Analyzer for this post

That's unlucky for our hand. But no I am not folding to the flop raise here. In fact, I plan to call down. I think by raising the turn we force our opponent to have a set alot of the time. Since I don't think there will be many one pair hands like Kx that would x/r the flop, I think his hand range would be either sets 66,33 or FDs. For that reason, I would call their turn bet and plan to call the rest or bet the rest when they check on the river. The river is a good card too for us because now it becomes less likely that they have a set since two sixes are already on board. Also by just calling the turn we give them the opportunity to bluff the river with their missed draws but by raising their turn bet we allow them to fold.
