Hi taxcaptain1,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

I have completed the steps.

Here is the hand replay. It was a fairly loose table and I wanted to represent the pair. Too aggressive?

Hi taxcaptain1!

This promotion is only for FULL RING games. Once you receive your first bonus from this promotion, playing any format other than 2NL FULL RING will make you ineligible for all future bonuses in this promotion. No 6-max, no tourneys, etc.

With 77 from the button and a limper in front of me, I'm going to make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper (8 chips). I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard, as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand. Players that bet more with better hands and less with marginal ones are basically turning their cards face-up to an observant opponent... something that I want to avoid.

I then get 3-bet to 10 chips and since the stacks are deep enough (15X the bet), I'm going to call here and try to setmine and hit a 7.

When the flop misses me, I'm going to check and fold to any sizable bet. A bet here is most likely going to be from an 8 or an overpair, so I need to check and fold as I do not want to be putting my chips into the pot when I'm most likely behind. I want to be putting my chips in when I'm most likely ahead.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Three reasons to make a big bet:
1)Bluff people off decent hands
2)Gain value on a very strong hand
3)Protect against good draws

Here are two hands that I played and lost in. Wondering what I should have done differently in both instances.

Hi,

Hand Analysis

Did you have any reads on the villain? Post flop, we flop really strong with two over cards, straight draw and a flush draw. I would have eleveted to call down on the flop, turn and river. By calling on the turn it allows the villains entire range to stay in the pot and keep barreling into us. Raising the turn could generally maybe only get value from QT AT and action from hands that beat us QQ JJ 99 AQ.

Hand Analysis

Sitting on a 40bb stack depth, we could elect to 3bet this hand pre-flop for value as usually late position opens are much wider than from earlier positions. This will help to ensure value is made, a pot is built and ultimately we'll have the intiative in the pot. Post flop, there are only going to be a handful of two card flush combos that have us beat and several inferior Ax combos we can get value from, I wouldn't mind getting our stack all in on the turn or river as AQ AJ AT A9 QQ with a stray heart that was four flushing on a draw could hero call us.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
CannonLee

Hi taxcaptain1,

Fantastic!

Your next Bankroll Builder bonus is on it's way to you, great job so far.

Watch this video that will help you on the cash game tables.

There are three ways in which you can earn your next bonus.

1) Earn 10 VPPs AFTER receiving this bonus and you will automatically be credited with the next bonus. Let us know if you hit that target
2) If you lose your this bonus at the tables please post the hands where you lost the money with here in this thread. As soon as you post the losing hands we will advise on the next step.
3) If you make a first deposit at PokerStars you will automatically be awarded your remaining bonuses from the Bankroll Builder promotion.

Best of luck to you at the tables and we are here to help you should you have any questions.

Joss

Lesson #1 learned.... quit playing emotionally. I had been running half decently. Was up $1 on the bonus and playing tight and aggressive, as the lessons had taught. I then lost a hand which I played well and got unfortunate on the river. The following hands I was frustrated and played way to loose and completely wrong. This is the hand where I lost the rest.

I should have folded out to begin with, and then after hitting only middle pair and getting re-raised I definitely should have gotten out.

Hi,

Hand Analysis

On this depth of money when it is folded around to us we can certainly enter the pot for a raise, but I would proceed with caution if we get 3bet, I'd most likely fold if the villain 3bet as there are several combos of Ax that have us outkicked AK AQ AJ AT etc.. and premium pocket pairs AA KK QQ JJ TT. Post flop when the villain check raises it appears to be for value, it's a fairly dry texture with a handful of draws but this board can easily hit AQ KQ QJ QQ all of which are part of a tight 3bet range. I'd personally fold the flop when we get check raised to save bets for a better spot.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
CannonLee
