Good evening,

Ive been trying to study 9 max hypers of alate, due to not many hours in the day due to the new baby being born, i need to play a fast structure game, i have played 300 of these with not much success (mainly due to running bad) - i analyzed some games ive played and i was actually rather surprised by how quick you actually need to start pushing in these.
Most people use Big Blinds for the push fold stage.
But in reality in these games theres antes from the 1st hand.
If you use the M style wich adds the antes you effectivly have less BB,s.

I pulled one game up were i didnt play a hand in the 1st 10 hands i was dealt, and decided to see what the difference was between BB and M.

2 HANDS DEALT 11.3M 23BB ANTE 2
4 HANDS DEALT 7.2M 15BB ANTE 3
6 HANDS DEALT 6.7M 14BB ANTE 3
8 HANDS DEALT 5M 10BB ANTE 4
10HANDS DEALT 4.4M 8.5BB ANTE 4

So after 10 hands were most definitly in push fold mode, the M part of this is surprising, after 10 hands were at 4m rounded up, thats basically 4 orbits before were dead, if its 6 handed its 24 hands if the blinds stop at that level (wich obviously they dont)

Question 1) is it such a bad play to start pushing alot earlier using the M-zone, to effectivly get ahead in these games.

Question2)And if using the BB method, does it give you a false sence that you actually have more time than you think in these games.

Question3) Does ICM actually play a part in these games, especially at the lowest limits?

I have the utmost respect for people that plays these games and are consistent winners - i would like there thoughts on my above questions.

Thanks impactpoint.

I've avoided hypers up till now, because I don't think I could cope mentally with the variance, but they are supposedly good games to build a roll with, if you don't get tilted/depressed by the downswings.

With regard to your questions, I think you should be basing your push/fold decisions on M, not blinds, precisely because the antes represent a decent chunk of your stack. You can't afford to get anted out of the game.

I'm a novice when it comes to ICM calculatins, but I think knowledge of ICM is HUGELY important in all SnGs, but especially so in turbos and hypers, because the bubble stage comes round so damn quickly!
