Hi Wh33lies,

You are eligible for the Bankroll Builder promotion, good job!
NB: Bookmark this page so that you'll find it easily in the future

First Step

Watch the following video and pay special attention to the tips on retrieving and saving your hand history from PokerStars. This will be important for the rest of your promotional journey.

After wacthing this please play some PLAY MONEY FULL-RING (9-Handed) tables at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

Then when you have that done please have a go at the Poker Basics Course and pass the quiz at the end of the course.
So you have 3 steps to do to begin with and when you have all 3 done we will award you with your first bonus.

1) Watch the 'Getting Started' video
2) Post a 'PLAY MONEY' hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer
3) Pass the Poker Basic course.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 steps completed.

Best of Luck!

Hi Wh33lies!

With AJo in the BB, I get 5 limps then an abnormal min-raise in front of me. A standard raise for this opp would have been to 3BB+1BB for each limper (16 chips). I have options here. If I think that some of the opps will fold to a standard re-raise (to between 3X the previous bet and a pot-sized raise), then I would like to raise to 18. However, if the opps are very stationy and will call regardless, I'll just call the extra two chips and see the flop.

I see a 7-way flop, hit two pair and have an opp make another abnormally small bet. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 4 or more opps, if I bet, I need to make a pot-sized bet. Here is also why I will the overwhelming majority of the time raise preflop. Unless an opp has 33 or A3s, they should not be calling a raise preflop. Also, I could be outkicked here.
I'm going to make a pot-sized raise here to 32 chips. I don't want to bet less than this or I could be giving an opp with a diamond draw the correct odds to call to try to outdraw me.

The turn gives me top two pair and I'm going to make a lead value bet. With two opps in the pot, a standard bet sizing is 2/3 pot, so I will bet 56 chips. This bet though causes another problem. It's over 1/3 of my remaining stack, so I'll be pot-committed. Due to this, I really need to shove the turn and hope that the opps don't have a 3 nor a better A. If they have a draw and call a shove, then they are not getting the correct odds and will lose chips to me on average each and everytime that they make a play like this.

The keys are to make standard bets, as this helps to conceal the strength of my hand.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

Excellent!

You've done all 3 tasks and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

Use your first buy-in to only play the 1/2 cent real money FULL RING tables on PokerStars. Do not play any other type of game other than this. Post one hand that you had difficulty with here in this thread using the hand replayer and we will analyze it for you.
Please watch the following video and answer the question below.

List 3 reasons why a player may want to make a big bet?

Then study the Cash Game Course and once your happy have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

So you have 3 things to do to earn your next bonus.

1) Play the 1/2 cent Real Money tables and post an interesting hand here in the Forum using the Hand Replayer.
2) Watch the Bet Sizing video and answer the question below it.
3) Study and pass the Cash Game quiz.

Let us know as soon as you have all 3 tasks completed and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

To put a lot of pressure on opponents.
To bluff people of decent hands.
Protect against strong drawing hands.

Hi,

Hand Analysis

As tempting as it may be to call an addtional 1c to complete your small blind...sitting on a 100bb stack I'd fold this hand, let's also consider our position at the table...we'll have a positional disadvantage post flop versus the limper and likely the billain in the big blind if the check their option. There are several combos of hands that have us beat, this is a marginal hand that will yeild marginal results, plus we wont be flopping a flush draw often enough for it to show any profit.

Post flop, there is no need to inflate the pot by being aggressive, I'd maybe check call one street with the hopes of improving my hand...but we have to discount all of our outs that are of the diamond suit as that may give one of the villains a flush, so overall our equity is minimal and it would be best to just check fold and wait for a value hand.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
CannonLee
