Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.

Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Great Job!

You passed the Cash Game Quiz and know you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundementals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 1/2 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.

Once you post your hand one of our Trainer will analyze it for you so please post and intersestig hand where you have questions. Give as much information about the hand as possible, for example, had you any reads on your opponents?

I was in SB position with a trash hand but no one raised so i just called and hit top pair J. After betting the pot amount in order "announce" i have top pair and just want blinds, the BTN player just called also on Turn and River giving me a hard time to understand if he playes a straight draw or not and so on the last round of bets didn't raise to much. As it is shown in the replay he mucked and made a decent pot but my question is: in this kind of hands, with a top pair and small kicker, how should i play with a "caller", aggressive or not?

Thank you.

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Hi xtre3mu,

Although we are getting a good price to complete our SB, I think this is a clear fold prelfop. The reason is that we have like you said a trashy hand. What do you want to flop with this hand? If we hit TP we won't be good against other Jacks because we have kicker problems also with the Jack being TP it is vulnerable to overcards like Q, K, and Ace. So our only hope is to flop two pair to be comfortable with the hand and we will not make two pair on the flop often enough to justify the call preflop.

As played, I would like a turn check call to try and keep the pot small when we pick up a gutshot to a straight with our TP and elect to check fold to a river bet when we miss.
