Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.
Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Great Job!

You passed the Cash Game Quiz and know you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundementals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 0.01/0.02 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.

Once you post your hand one of our Trainer will analyze it for you so please post an interestig hand where you have questions. Give as much information about the hand as possible, for example, had you any reads on your opponents?

Hi theogarciav2!

Firstly, Play only full ring, 9 man, tables for the remainder of this promotion. Playing any other format will make you ineligible for your remaining buyins! Full ring is also much easier to learn on, and be profitable on at the start.

Here you have position on the limper and a decent hand. Limping is usually a weak hand. Limping behind can be fine with speculative hands like small pocket pairs or suited connectors. Then we want to keep the pot small and flop a monster. With KQo our cards arent suited, but they are both facecards. Most likely we will flop a top pair type of hand that plays best against a single opponent. I prefer to raise 3x plus 1x for the limper in this spot. This should isolate the limper. Raising can also win the pot immidiately which is fine too.

Calling on the flop is fine. Betting on the turn is fine too, but you bet too large. I would suggest about 70% of the pot here. Betting potsized often gets us value owned. The hands we are beating fold and only the hands beating us continue.

On the river you most likely have the best hand. We want to bet the maximum of what we think will get called. I would bet between 33% and 50% of pot here.

GL and have fun at the tables!

Your line here is something we often see at higher stakes, but I would advise against it at 2NL. The biggest leak we see at 2NL is that players dont fold enough. This makes bluffing less profitable because we will need a real hand at showdown. It makes value betting more profitable since weaker hands will continue calling our top pair or better bets.

Q9s is pretty weak, but does have potential. If we have a read on the villain that he can fold, then raising preflop is great. Note, though, our raise is a semi bluff. When we get called we need to be careful. Readless, I would just take the free flop.

You get called and flop middle pair on an A high flop and the villain leads out. Calling like you did is called floating. It is done all the time at higher levels with the intention of betting the turn if the villain checks. You followed through and bet the turn winning the pot which is nicely done. However, as I said, this is often a high risk line at 2NL because many villain dont fold often enough.

Your line is nice, just dont overdo it at 2NL. Against known villains that you know can fold it is great. Against unknowns, just keep the pot small rather than risking a large portion of your stack.

GL and have fun at the tables!
