Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.
Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Great Job!

You passed the Cash Game Quiz and know you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundementals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 0.01/0.02 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.

Once you post your hand one of our Trainer will analyze it for you so please post an interestig hand where you have questions. Give as much information about the hand as possible, for example, had you any reads on your opponents?

Hi

Was hard to get hand with questions (most all folds after someone raises)
But at least about this hand I have some questions

I don't know if I know how to play hands like this out of position
Noticed that this opponent almost always raised if all called in previous hands on flop if he had something - even with middle pair, but reraised only in couple hands, sometimes called
This time he reraised me - may be my bet was too small?
May be I was able to get more if my play was more correct?
And finally - may be there was too much risk and usually I need to play smarter?

R

PS Opponent had unsuited A8 this time.

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.
He will do this within the next 24 hours and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Hi raimis077

Just checking preflop is good here. Against a single opponent limping in, I would often raise preflop. Here though, it is unlkely that a raise would get everyone to fold. So let's see the free flop instead. Nobody has shown much strength yet.

You flop top pair and have a decent kicker. Leading out if fine. It gets you value and protects your hand since one pair hands play best against fewer oppponents. If I understood your read on the villain, he raised often. Great that you picked up on this. Also, that you were aware that you were out of position. Without a read, I would be concerned by the raise. Since this board offers no draws. Likely raising hands would be two pair or sets. With your read we can call though.

Note, in general, a one pair hand is not strong enough to get 3 streets of value. We dont want to risk our stack on "just a pair". I normally try for one or two streets of value. In this hand, we dont want to bet the turn and get raised again. Therefore, I would prefer check-calling the turn. If the villain checks behnd, then you can safely bet the river.

Your betsizing is fine, perhaps a bit small. On dry boards half pot bets are standard. On wet boards bets are larger, about 70% of the pot.

Nice hand!
