Well done PatchPS!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.

Now study the Cash Game course and once you

think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there

and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Great Job PatchPS!

You passed the Cash Game Quiz and so you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundamentals of playing poker.

We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 1/2 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and, using the Hand Replayer, post a hand here in this thread that you

have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer

only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.

Once you post your hand one of our Trainers will analyse it for you so please post an interesting hand where you have

questions. Give as much information about the hand as possible, for example, had you any reads on your opponents?

Thanks, I've tried my hand in the cash games and this hand left me with a few questions. I won this hand, but I'm not sure if the call I made would be profitable in the long run. I went with my instinct. The villain had not long joined the table, so I had no reads on him. He did, however, turn out to be loose and lost all his chips cheaply. What do you think of the hand?

Hi PatchPS,

Thank you for posting this hand for review and I have asked one of the Hand Analysers to take a look at it for you.

This is normally done within 24 hours (but can sometimes take a little longer, especially at weekends) and once it's been analysed I will advise on the next step.

Cheers!

Hi PatchPS,

You play your JJ nicely preflop. On the flop I would suggest betting slightly larger, half the pot. Things look great up to the turn though. When you get a big raise like that we need to rethink the situation. The villain is rarely bluffing when they make big raises on the turn or river. Here you have an overpair, but the villain could have trip 8s, a straight or a full house which are all beating you.

Unless you have a very good read on the villain, having a pair is not strong enough to call an all in postflop, even with AA you should fold here. We would need a set or better to call in all in like this.

Learning not to overplay single pair hands in an important part of the game. Betting is fine since many opponents will call with weaker hands, but once we get raised, we need to be careful with big overpairs or top pair top kicker hands such as AK.

GL and have fun at the tables!
