Hey guys i'm new to the whole pokerstars school and have decided to take part in the open league for february. I didn't play much poker in January and got below 20 VPP for that month meaning i earn next to nothing if i finish high. My question is, if i achieve more than 20 VPP this month, will my status change for the current leaderboards making me eligible for the higher tier prize or is this impossible to change now?

Thanks.

Hey Parkyboy,

I don't think it's possible for you to change your level status within the open league within the same month. So if you reach at least 20VPPs now in February you will be on the higher level for the open league in march.

Having said that, I saw that you are just around 1100 in the open league ranking at the moment - if you will continue to climb the ranking you will get closer to a ticket to the PL for march. If you win a PL ticket you can not compete for rank prizes in the open league in march, but will be competing for rank in the PL instead.

Here comes the catch... In the PL you need to have at least 150VPPs in order to be eligible for the higher cash prizes.. This means that I would suggest you either make 20+ VPPs now in february and do not qualify for the PL - or, you make 150+ VPPs in february and try to grab a ticket in the PL for march.

The cut-off for the PL is top 500 in the open league, but since not everyone has the required 20VPPs you will normally get a PL ticket even if you finish within the top 600-650 in the open league (this varies every month).

I hope this makes sense to you.

Good luck and see you at the tables

Cheers,
Gunnar
