Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.
Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Great Job!
You passed the Cash Game Quiz and know you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundementals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 0.01/0.02 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.
Once you post your hand one of our Trainer will analyze it for you so please post an interestig hand where you have questions. Give as much information about the hand as possible, for example, had you any reads on your opponents?

Handling nut flush draw / nut flush - Fri Mar 14, 2014, 04:36 PM

I had considered semi-bluff raise on the flop but imho he would fold maybe TT (guy donk/called with overcards before!)

What is the best way to make money with nut flush vs wild opponent?

Raising the turn? Small raise on the river? I had noticed that bet size really means little to the people hence jam.

Hi trey137!

Firstly, try to stick to tables where all 9 seats are filled. This will make it easier for you to learn the fundamentals. Having so few players forces you to play a very wide range of hands which will create more difficult postflop situations than need be.

In this hand, opening with A9s is great. Your betsize looks good, although a standard 3bb is fine too. Also, you have positon on the villain. You flop the nut flush draw and the villain leads into you with a min-bet. Since you don't have a made hand yet, calling as you did is great. You have great odds to call this tiny bet.

On the turn you get your flush card and now have the nuts. Again the villain minbets into a pot of 16c. Now is when a read is important, but I think we should raise the turn. Firstly, the villain will often have a pair AND one heart. If they are drawing to a flush, we normally want to bet now while they still believe they can improve to the best hand. Moreover, the villain has 48bb stack left which we want to win. In general, two smaller bets will work better than one really big bet on the river. I think we can safely raise to about half the pot, so 8c or 10c. This sets us up for a bigger bet on the river than just calling the minbet.

As played, jamming the river can work at 2NL. Note, don't do this unless you have the nuts. Secondly, on larger pots, it is often better to make a standard raise perhaps closer to potsize as this is more likely to get called. However, if you think there is a chance the villain will call an all in, it doesn't need to work that often to be more profitable than a small raise. At 5NL and higher, overbetting like you did here works significantly less often.

GL and have fun at the tables!
