Hi,

Pocket jacks is a hand that may put me in tough spots sometimes. However, this time it had everything to be a great opportunity, except for the opponents'actions.
Note: don't have any reads on the opp, it was in the early stage of the tournament.
Was it the right fold on the flop?

Note: hey, sorry about that. I always forget about these info. This is a 0.25c MTT SNG, 90 players. Blinds go up every 15 min.

What type of tourney is this from? Please always include this, as different tourney types have different strategies that are needed.

Hi shynleigh355!

With JJ early preflop, I have two choices. I can either call and try to setmine (what I'll do about 30% of the time) or I can make a standard raise to 3BB+1BB for each limper (what I'll do about 70% of the time).

I flop an overpair to a paired board and since I raised preflop, I'm going to lead the flop. The key is the sizing of it. Bets postflop need to be sized based on the size of the pot, number of opps and board texture. With 2 opps in the pot, a standard bet is 2/3 pot, so I need to bet 267. I do not want to bet less than this, as it's a tell for either a hand that missed (2 overs) or a pair that is afraid of a ten or six. By keeping all of my bets and raises standard, I won't have any bet tells.. like the small bet here.

I then get min-raised and a shove. While I do have a pair, against a raise and a 3-bet, I'm almost never going to be good here, so I need to fold.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

P.S. If this had been a league game, I'd never be raising pre.. why I asked.

Tthanks for that. Would you not raise in a league game with JJ PF because you could think it's a trap ?
Sorry for bothering with these hands and questions, it's just that it may really help me improve my game. Thanks a lot.

A league game is all about survival and survival only.. so I do not want to bloat the pot out of position.
