Hi,
I have here more one marginal spot. Can you guys give me any tips about how to play in these marginal situations ?
Note: this is a 0.25c sit-and-go, and villain had been limping for a while

Hi shynleigh355!

With KJ on the button, I get a limp in front of me. I'm going to make a standard raise, which for this blind level is to 2.5BB+1BB for each limper, so I will raise to 1050.

I flop top pair and now the opp leads into me for a standard bet of 1/2 pot. If I call the bet, I'm going to have an SPR of less than 1 on the turn, so due to this (especially if the opp likes to play suited cards and could have spades), I'm shoving the flop. Shoving here is an easier decision too, if I make a standard raise preflop, as the stack to pot ratio is even smaller. Also, I don't have a top 3 stack, so I need to be looking to accumulate chips to get to a top 3 position.. as that's where the real $$ is at.

The key here is that by making a standard raise preflop, it sets up and makes shoving any flop that I hit against the opponent's stack size an easy play... and this way, I avoid a sticky situation like the turn here.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.
