Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.

Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Great Job!

You passed the Cash Game Quiz and know you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundementals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 1/2 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.

Once you post your hand one of our Trainers will analyze it for you so please post and intersesting hand where you have questions. Give as much information about the hand as possible, for example, had you any reads on your opponents?

In the hand I was concerned whether it was the right play, I won the pot but the opponent was a loose player, do you think I should call against a tighter player?

Here you are going to be out of position all hand, but J10s does play well. The btn makes a larger than normal raise. So, folding would be my first choice. However, with a good read on how the opponent plays postflop we can call.

You flop top pair, but your kicker is not that great. The villain can have many Jx hands beating you. In spots like this we don't want the pot to get out of control. I would prefer to either bet the flop or check-call with check-calling being my first choice. Check-raising can work, but it is a semi-bluff. Your hand is not strong enough to do this for value. Thus, when your check raise gets called we need to be careful.

The turn pairs the board. A new bet now may get some Jx hands and some flush draw hands to fold. However, the biggest weakness of players at 2NL is that the don't fold enough. This makes bluffing a worse strategy than simply playing straight forward and value betting your strong hands. (Top pair marginal kicker is not a strong hand). Moreover, if we are going to bet, we should bet at least half the pot, but 70% will be even better. Betting small gives a flush chaser good odds to continue. When you get raised we should fold. The only thing you are beating now is a bluff and a flush draw.

On the river, flush draws and any Ax hand just got there. The only thing you are beating is a bluff. At 2nl you should fold in this spot every time. To be honest, you overplayed your hand on every street and got extremely lucky to run into a villain who played his hand incredibly poorly. Don't confuse winning a big pot with great play. You won a nice pot here, but taking lines like this will cost you your bankroll rather quickly. Be careful

At 2nl the best way to consistantly win is to play straight forward. Value bet your strong hands. Don't bluff and don't pay off the villain by calling big river bets.

GL and have fun at the tables!
