It was the end of January, 2013 when I joined PSO, having never played poker. A year later, I moved from 10NL Zoom to 25NL as there was nothing in between. Ironically, I was losing money at 10NL but still knew I was ready to move up and indeed I was right. Yes, this sounds totally illogical but just hold on!

By mid-February, 2014 I was plus $563 in Zoom and +$235 in Sit & Goes. Only a month later, I have near doubled my Zoom cash intake, stayed about the same in tournaments and that includes 2 weeks without play (see my last blog). I have jumped from 690 VPPs to 2,480 since then and for all of last year I earned 1,183 VPPs while now I have earned near 7,680. Again I made Silver Star just a few days ago. While many PSO members are way ahead of my game, I now understand that I needed more of a challenge and can only assume I was under-stimulated at 10NL.

[/I]Do you think about playing for higher stakes or is going back to lower stakes best for you? Have you made any such moves recently? Jared Tendler, renowned author of the two volumes of ‘The Mental Game’ of Poker’ wants to hear from you. What motivates your current buy-in besides the real issue of finances? Have you moved up and feel like you’re playing with ‘scared money’? What psychological barriers do you think might be deterring you from playing at the level you may know is optimum for you? Jared will take your questions on every aspect of this topic.

In the near future, I will be interviewing Jared and present him with your questions, so be as detailed as you like. Then the interview will be made available to all members of PSO.

I know Jared is looking forward to hearing from you so don’t be shy!

May all your aspirations come to fruition.

Hi Ellen

I moved up to 5NL Zoom in February after having a boost to my bankroll through a tournament and I stayed in profit in February so did not return to 2NL, in March I have been playing tournaments.

I have played as high as $25 buy ins for tournaments and cash , but losing that buy in to a bad beat effects me too much emotionally so I handle the emotion by not playing for higher buy ins and only play with my winnings.

I have Jared's books and I notice lots of areas I tilt in most notably Hate Losing Tilt, that is why I keep the buy ins low to lessen the tilt.

Thanks to you and Jared for doing this.
