Does villain often bet more than the size of the pot once it's checked to him? With no reads I'd play the hand how you did. We are only beating bluffs/missed draws but it doesn't make much sense for villain to be overbetting the pot when he has something. Surely he would bet an amount that would get you to call right?

This is a strange line taken by a weak player. When you call his bet on the turn ought to be prepared to call a river bet. If you're uncomfortable calling villains river bet then we ought to fold on the turn.
