I cannot imagine anyone purchasing chips, but the site is going the Facebook route in these non-cash games. It's wise from the company's POV. However, if the games remain at a reasonable level, the better way is to use the refill option you described.

PokerStars has a Facebook version of the game. Worse players you will ever have the displeasure of meeting at a table. All-in play is the norm. One good thing is all the chips they give away free. If I can figure out a way of transferring my Facebook chip total to my regular dot-net account, I'll be playing the big game every month or the satellite once a week. Have played perhaps 7K hands on Facebook and my account is over 500K. Most of that I got by NOT playing.

Getting PokerStars is easy: download and install the PokerStars game software, create your free player account, and validate your email address. Clicking on the download poker button will lead to the installation of compatible poker software on your PC of 51.7 MB, which will enable you to register and play poker on the PokerStars platform. To uninstall PokerStars use the Windows uninstaller: click Start > Control Panel and then select Add or Remove programs > Select PokerStars and click Uninstall or Remove.
