I re-raised the bet from late pos'n, villain flat calls.
I've flopped AAAA with two diamonds on flop,
Villain leads out after just calling my re-raise pre.
At this point should I just shove or wait 'til villain improves?
Villain slowed down on turn/river, obviously didn't improve.

Too much to ask getting two stacks in a row with AA(BB)?

It's always tough to extract value when your opponent can't possibly have anything decent to be calling with.

I'd just CBet as normal, but make the sizing pretty small something like $0.90 because I'd still expect a call from flush draws and underpairs for at least one street. If he's not got anything, then we're never going to get much anyway! If he called, the plan would be to check turn and hope he tries to bluff representing Ax.

I think the way you played it is also OK, you just weren't destined to win much from this pot, you flopped too well!
