.................................:.:.....

Its the bubbble fifty
I saw this guy "quincycle" open minraise early position 1 time with ATos with 10 BB and got shoved over the top and he called and won vs 99

And now he minraise early position again with almost 15 BB stack
I decided to go all in 15 BB with AQs because i dont want the another guy in the big blind to come along

And i lost

Did i make the right move?

Thanks in advance for your reply.
I like watching and reading lessons from u guys. Respect

Hi Superguiman!

With this being near the bubble, this is a perfect spot to run an ICM calculation for this situation. When I put in the chip counts and the min-raise for the opp (their range should be about 66+, ATs+, AJo+), I get a shove range for me of only QQ+. AQs has an expected value of -3.05% here.

Due to this, I cannot shove here and need to just call and then fold if I do not hit the flop to a bet by the opp.

The main reason that I cannot shove an unmade hand here is that both the BB and the min-raiser should both be calling me with the entire range that the initial person opened with... and against possibly 2 opps with this range, I'm going to win LESS than 30% of the time. For me to breakeven, I'd need to win about 33% of the time.

This hand is actually a great example of where the strategy for this type of tourney is different than a standard MTT. In an MTT, I'm snap-shoving AQo here, but in a 50-50, I can only shove premium made hands (QQ+).

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

John (JWK24)

P.S. If you're going to play a large number of this type of game, I'd highly recommend that you look into having an ICM calculator to review your plays afterwards. You cannot use them while the PokerStars client is open (against the TOS), but they are invaluable tools for self review afterwards.

Thank you much john

I'll try to find and use a good icm calculator. Are there any that fit for fifty SNG games?

I use ICMIZER. It does have 50-50 as a preset option for type of game.
