What type of tourney is this from and what reads did you have on the opps? The tourney type will have a dramatic reply on my answer.

Hi ardajd!

The leagues have a strategy unto themselves and it's different than a standard tourney. In them, I have one and only one goal and that is to last as long as possible without taking chances.

With a raise and two calls in front of me with TT, I need to call behind here and try to setmine. I do not want to make a standard raise and bloat the pot with a marginal made hand. If I was in a cash tourney and wanted to raise, I would make a standard raise, which is to between 3X the previous bet (2250) and a pot-sized raise (3575). I do not want to raise to more than this, as I want to keep all of my bets and raises standard. Players that bet more with better hands and less with marginal ones are basically turning their cards face-up, which is something that I need to avoid.

My plan for the flop is that if I hit a 10 or get three undercards on the flop, I will make a standard value bet. If there is an overcard, I need to check and fold to any sizable bet. I will then do the same thing on the turn and river.

In these games, I do not want to be taking unnecessary chances, as each player that I outlast gets me more points for the end of the month leaderboard (where the real $$ is).

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.
