First hand of the tournament for me, no read on anybody. It's Hot $0.55.

Simple question should I peel-off as I am getting 1:2.50 to make the call with not so bad hand and I have position. But look at the SB 3-bet sizing and he is from belarus if that helps.

I am not sure if calling will get me into more trouble or not as I will either be seeing flush draw or top pair with nice kicker on the flop if I hit.

If I should fold then why?

* If this had been a cash game I would never be putting this hand here as it's an easy call. But in tournament stack preservation is vital.

Hi adikumar2010!

With AQs and a limper in front of me, I need to make a standard raise, which at this blind level is to 3BB+1BB for each limper (160 chips). I do not want to raise to less than this and give the opps the correct odds to call to try to outdraw me, which is what too small of a bet does.

I then get 3-bet by the BB to 320 (standard 3-bet sizing, as it's between 2.5x and 3x). If I call here, I'm putting over 10% of my stack into the pot where I can be easily dominated or already be behind. I also do not want to 4-bet here, as doing so pot-commits me and I really don't want to get it in this early when I can easily be behind (AK or any pair).

Since I don't want to be all-in here and do not want to leak off 10% of my stack if I miss the flop with an unmade hand, I'm going to muck and wait for a better spot.

Hope this helps and good luck at the tables.

John (JWK24)

P.S. I'm mucking this in a cash game too, unless I had a note that the opp was a very loose fish (where I'd 4-bet the opp the majority of the time and call a smaller % of the time).
