G'day Team PSO, fellow Bankroll Builders,

I completed quiz, got 83%. I'm having trouble adding my score to my account, it keeps giving an error message and 'please contact support@pokerschoolonline.com'.

I got something wrong about 87s, and ran some numbers on suited connecters. I was amazed how suited connectors have so much equity!
For instance:
Villian has AA what hand has best equity for hero?
Obviously AA (50%) but then
KK 18.05%
QQ 18.45%
JJ 18.85%
TT 19.25
AKs 12.14%
KQs 17.06%
QJs 19.11%
JTs 21.16%
T9s 22.20%

Talking about 4% but KK is worst hand to hold and T9s is best! I guess that there are more ways to get ahead of AA (straight flush T trips 9 trips full houses and quads) but KK is harder to get that variety of winning hands. Weird!!

I leave suited connectors and only really start with Broadways and pairs. Maybe a leak. Thoughts?

Anyways ready for next stage!!!!

Just watched video about commitment decisions. Very cool!
Takeaway points:

#1 Don't commit 30% of stack unless you are willing to get it in
#2 The commitment threshold is 10%. Start planning if you are willing to get it in with a lousy TPTK (prob not) when 10% of your stack has been bet.
#3 Conditional commitment threshold. Be willing to get it in with KK on condition that flop doesn't have an Ace for instance.

Cheers,

Brilliant!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.

Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

Hi PSO,

I have finished the Cash Game quiz.

Question about pot odds and expected value: are people memorising this stuff?
Should I be a pot odds ninja (eg gutshot plus 2 overcards, odds flop to river.....BOOM 1.6:1 right there in memory?)
At very least I think I'm printing this table and sticking it up somewhere.

See you at tables!

Great Job!

You passed the Cash Game Quiz and know you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundementals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 1/2 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.

PS: Your question about Pot Odds you should ask HERE

Ok thanks for link to general forum for pot odds question, lots of other posts to read!

Heres a hand I played:
On button 98s, flopped gutshot straight draw and runner runner flush draw.
Folded to 1/2 pot cbet on flop.
Should draw hands hold on to turn if betting is light?

Folded because I had no reads on villian. If I had more hands I could find out if he cbets 95% or whatever.
Thanks!

Great!

We now have credited your account with your 3rd bonus and You're doing a fantastic job so far!

Now take some time and using the information you've learned so far evaluate this hand and ask yourself the following questions:

1. Was my starting hand good enough to play from this position?

2. Did I evaluate the strength of my hand postflop?

3. Was my bet-sizing correct?

When at PokerSchoolOnline you are welcome post many hands for discussion in our Hand Review Forum and we encourage you to do so. Here's a video to help you understand Cash Game poker better.

You've still got one bonus to receive.

Step Four

Attend any LIVE TRAINING session here at PokerSchoolOnline. You must actually attend the session to get your bonus.

Please let us know what Live Training session you have attended. NB It must be a live training session that takes place after this post was posted. Past live training sessions do not count.

Let us know the Date/Time and Title of the session you attend and we will check your attendance and credit you with your final bonus. If you make a deposit at this stage you will also receive your final bonus.
