I assume this was a satellite? Before we can answer this question, we need to know how many seats got paid, as that's a VERY important consideration.

In satellites, if you are very close to the bubble and have one of the shorter stacks, you often have to massively tighten up, sometimes even to the point where folding AA preflop is correct, as the risk of getting eliminated is too high compared to the reward of accumulating some more chips that might not even be necessary to help you qualify.

However in this hand you're still very far from the money and are desperately short. You're facing shoves from two other short stacks who are likely going to be really wide. JJ is a really strong hand so this is too good of an opportunity to let go as we are going to triple up reasonably often and we likely won't get any better opportunities than this.

Thanks for the reply Andy

I'm pretty new to poker so still learning,i had the same idea as you, short stacked and if i'm right in thinking only had 4bbs left(not sure if thats right or not lol)so i went for it. i have played in about 5 of these satellites now and always seem to be short stacked when there are less than 80/90 players left in.

Perhaps i play to tight, still,as i said i'm learning and more importantly it's not costing me any money and i'm enjoying playing.

Thanks again for the advice best of luck to you at the tables.
Paul.

That's a bit of a cooler then, unlucky.

However I wouldn't recommend limping preflop with anything. Either your hand is strong enough to open for a raise or just fold.

JWK24 and others wrote about the dangers of limping in this Hand Analysis http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/for...-gun-%28UTG%29

Early in a league game, KQ from any position other than late position (would open raise with) or free from the BB is a huge leak. Due to the way the points work in these, I need to be extremely tight early in them due to the negative point penalty associated with busting. From early or mid position, only QQ+ is playable early in the tournament.
