Let me say first of all that I think your play is OK and is certainly the easiest way of getting all the money in preflop (which I'm more than happy to do with these stack sizes unless something crazy happens).

However by 3Bet shoving, you're basically excluding bluffs from your range, which means you're more likely to only get action from hands you're flipping with or crushed by. You might get called by AQ sometimes if you're lucky. But your fold equity of course still makes your shove a +EV play.

However I personally prefer to just 3Bet all my range that I choose to 3Bet to the same size. In this case it would be to ~1500. With this sizing, we can 3Bet/fold or 3Bet/call depending on whether we're bluffing or not. Also we're in position so we shouldn't worry too much if he chooses to flat call, he'll be check/folding the flop a decent percentage of the time even if we miss.

The nice thing about 3Betting smaller is that we can actually get a wider range to stack off. If we're 3Bet bluffing sometimes, that means that the original raiser, or indeed someone in later position, should sometimes be 4Betting light. Their 4Betting range should be significantly wider than their calling a shove range, which is good when we have a hand that we want to play for stacks with!

Problem is this I didn't want to be in situation where I 3bet to 1400-1500 and then cbet and have to fold to a shove from him. Second reason last time he try to steal from me in BB and I 3bet minimum and he fold showing A. So I was thinking he will think I am playing at him and he can call with worst possibly AJ or KJ ..... in worst he could have 1010 JJ QQ. I really think then and also now with history we had before it is better to shove than 3 bet because if we win this "flip" we have a lot of chips and we can have a deep run MAYBE
Anyway I understand what you are saying and I usually do like this but this time because reasons I write above I do it other way and I lost because he call with JJ but I think it does not matter maybe in Wcoop I will be in same situation and I win and it will get me to final table lots of maybe I know :P
Thank you

Hi rudar47!

Here's the good thing about 3-betting like Andy suggested. We've got position, so if we miss the flop, when the opp checks to me on the flop (which they should since I 3-bet pre), I can check behind and see a free turn if I miss. I don't always have to c-bet the flop.

The sub 10bb stacks behind hero means that whether we ship or make it 1500ish (I prefer that too) we are committed versus CO or button. For this reason we might expect the open to be tighter if villain is aware of stacks.

This would sway me towards a smaller 3 bet give villain a chance to assume we 3bet too much and shove lighter than he would call off if we shove.
