New to poker and have been going through the reading material tutorials on PSO, very detailed and interesting on more advanced play as well as tips on discipline.

Play money tables are fine but unrealistic to actual bets being placed and the real feel for how to play NLHE!

$8 promotion for the 4 tables of 100 big blinds!

Thanks very much.

Hi Flophitter,

I've went through all the individual quizzes at the end of each lesson but when I click the "START THE QUIZ!" button on the poker assessment page an error message pops up:

"There is a problem with your account. Please contact support@pokerschoolonline.com"

This was still the case after I tried logging out and back on to my PSO account.
Can you try to fix this please, thanks.

Well done Vesien!

You've passed the basic test and you'll get your first bonus in the next 24 hours, good job!

Step Two

The Poker Basics test was easy right? Well, there's a lot more to learn on the road to becoming a profitable poker player.

Now study the Cash Game course and once you think you have it mastered have a go at attempting the quiz. Don't rush through the course, there's a lot of content there and the quiz is tricky so spend some time on this.

Let us know as soon as you have passed the Cash Game Quiz and we will award you with your next buy-in.

Best of Luck!

I have passed the quiz eventually after failing a couple of times, a couple of questions caught me out that I had to go back and learn from.

Great job Vesien!

You passed the Cash Game Quiz and you've shown that you have a great understanding of the fundementals of playing poker. We have now credited your account with your 2nd bonus.

Step Three

Please play a 1/2 cent Real Money table at PokerStars and using the Hand Replayer post a hand here in this thread that you have questions about.

Here is a video on how to use the hand replayer.

NB: You must post a Cash Game hand only, tournament hands do not count for this promotion. You must use the Hand Replayer only to post your hand, we cannot accept hands posted in any other way.

Just completely messed up a hand with a fatal error :( - Fri Sep 05, 2014, 08:04 AM

I was in big blind position and had a pretty bad hand of Ace and an eight (non-suited) and thought I'd check to see if any think hit on the flop, I had a pair of aces and thought I'd continue (everyone was checking anyway).

I got to showdown without investing too much and thought I had the winning full house as my pair was aces but now I think I realise that a full house kicker is determined by the other card in your hand which was an "eight" in my case but was unfortunately a pair of nines to my opponent which would give him/her the winning kicker of "nine" > "eight".

This being the case, it burned slightly that I lost my full $2 bankroll on one hand because of my mistake of how the full house hand worked and it was a stupid error on my part. It was painful to see but a mistake that taught me a valuable lesson I won't be forgetting any time soon...

I think it will be an interesting hand to have a look at just to see how a beginning player experiences the game, hope you enjoy.

(At the very least it is money I haven't invested myself).

Vesien.

EDIT: Just realised that he had three nines which was the full house actually- I've posted it now so might as well take a look to see what you think though, thanks.

Great Vesien!

We now have credited your account with your 3rd bonus and You're doing a fantastic job so far!

Now take some time and using the information you've learned so far evaluate this hand and ask yourself the following questions:

1. Was my starting hand good enough to play from this position?

2. Did I evaluate the strength of my hand postflop?

3. Was my bet-sizing correct?

When at PokerSchoolOnline you are welcome post many hands for discussion in our Hand Review Forum and we welcome you to post questions there on the above hand.

Now here's a video to help you understand Cash Game poker better.

You've still got one bonus to receive.

Step Four

Attend any LIVE TRAINING session here at PokerSchoolOnline. You must actually attend the session to get your bonus.

Please let us know what Live Training session you have attended. NB It must be a live training session that takes place after this post was posted. Past live training sessions do not count.

Let us know the Date/Time and Title of the session you attend and we will check your attendance and credit you with your final bonus. If you make a deposit at this stage you will also receive your final bonus.
